Specific Challenges
Situated in the heart of Exeter in the stunning
Cathedral Yard, is Exeter's oldest and most historic
hotel, the Royal Clarence. Centrally located in
the heart of the city on the Cathedral Green,
is the first ABode and the home
of Michael Caines. As such, it
embodies a vision that combines the best British
values of tradition and quality with striking
individual and contemporary design.
The challenge on this project was to refurbish
this listed landmark building in 3 phases. Whilst
keeping the hotel operational we installed a new
Comfort Cooling System, replaced the existing
main plant and refurbished to the high standards
expected by the client.
Thornley & Lumb Partnership Ltd have completed
a further 2 refurbishment projects for this client
in Glasgow and Canterbury.

Gidleigh Park Hotel – Chagford, Devon

24 Bed refurbishment (Design & Build)
Specific Challenges
This Tudor style house, can be found within 45
acres of gardens and woodland on the north bank
of the Teign river in Dartmoor National Park.
New owners, Andrew and Christina Brownsword closed
this award-winning 24-bedroom hotel and 2 Michelin
Starred Restaurant, on 3 January 2006 and have
been overseeing the rebuilding and restoration
programme for this stunning property and gardens.
The challenge on this project was to refurbish
this 2 Michelin Star Hotel & Restaurant to
the high and exacting standards of the client. |

Tennis Courts.

UPS Replacement Croughton
Type Of Consultancy Project
Full UPS and generator back up system for RAF
croughton providing all equipment and witnessing
of all equipment to ensure to highest standard
The sytem included HV supplies fully synchronised
generators and associated UPS.

Specific Challenges
A very difficult project involving extensive commissioning
and testing acting as both designers and project
managers to ensure after commissioning completed
all existing supplies could be carefully diverted
to new systems without disruption to fully operational
